On Saturday, the Her Friends Family team spent a powerful and inspiring day in Kayonza District with young girls and teenagers who have faced the challenges of unwanted pregnancies. This gathering was more than just a meeting—it was a moment of healing, learning, and empowerment.
Enlightening Through Knowledge
During the session, our team provided open and compassionate discussions on reproductive health—a critical subject that is often overlooked, yet essential for every young girl’s well-being and future. By sharing knowledge and breaking down myths, we empowered these young women to make informed choices about their bodies and lives.
Providing Dignity with Sanitary Pads
In addition to health education, each girl received sanitary pads, a simple but vital resource that allows them to manage their periods with dignity. Access to menstrual hygiene products remains a challenge for many young women in Rwanda, and initiatives like these ensure that no girl is left behind because of her biology.
More Than Support—A Sisterhood
The day was filled with encouragement, love, and unity. Through the Her Friends Family initiative, we are creating safe spaces where vulnerable young women feel valued, supported, and empowered to rebuild their confidence and dream again. The spirit of Ubumwe, Urukundo, n’Umurava (Unity, Love, and Determination) was alive in every smile, hug, and shared story.
A Step Towards Empowerment
This event reflects our mission: to uplift women and girls, restore dignity, and give them tools to thrive. With every initiative, we are one step closer to ensuring that no girl feels alone in her journey, and that every woman can stand tall and say: “Yego, Ndashoboye!” (Yes, I am capable!)
