HER DIGNITY KITS”

Empowering Girls, Preventing Teen Pregnancies: A Menstrual Health Initiative by Imbaraga

Objective

To prevent teenage pregnancies and promote self care and body awareness among school going girls through menstrual health education and access to reusable sanitary pads.

Goal

To train teenage girls, especially in high risk areas, on how to use reusable sanitary pads, while also helping them embrace menstruation as a normal, healthy part of their lives. This initiative aims to reduce school absenteeism caused by lack of menstrual products and help keep girls in school, safe and empowered.

Target

  • Reach 2000 school going girls in districts with the highest rates of teenage pregnancies.

  • Each girl will receive a reusable pad kit (1 packet) that lasts up to 2 years.

  • Deliver 1–2 day training sessions in selected schools, focusing on:

    • Menstrual hygiene

    • Self-awareness and body confidence

    • Prevention of early pregnancies

    • Open conversations about reproductive health

Implementation Plan

  1. Collaborate with District Officials

    • To identify priority schools and communities based on teenage pregnancy statistics.

    • Receive accurate data on the number of schoolgirls to be supported in each location.

  2. Engage School Administration

    • Coordinate with school leaders to schedule training days.

    • Ensure a safe and open environment for discussion and learning.

  3. Provide Reusable Pads & Training

    • Distribute one packet per girl, designed to last two years.

    • Conduct interactive, respectful, and age-appropriate training during school.
